CRUISE CONTROL

Car fitted with cruise control

Cruise control is a system that automatically controls the speed of a vehicle. The system takes over the throttle of the car to maintain a steady speed as set by the driver.

Cruise Control operates the speed of your car the same way you do by pressing on or off the accelerator pedal. However, instead of pressing the accelerator, cruise control engages the throttle valve by a cable connected to an actuator. The SET/ACCEL buttoms on the steering wheel sets the speed of the car.

The primary function of cruise control is to make driving more comfortable. However, another advantage is that it makes your journey more fuel efficient by smoothing out acceleration and deceleration that would normally happen with a driver in control.

Constantly accelerating and braking will use significantly more fuel than maintaining a set speed.
